¹ tn Grk “him”; the referent (Jesus) has been specified in the translation for clarity.

² sn There was wonder (all who heard…were astonished) that Jesus at such a young age could engage in such a discussion. The fact that this story is told of a preteen hints that Jesus was someone special.

³ sn The account in 24:1-12 is repeated here, and it is clear that the other disciples were not convinced by the women, but could not explain the events either.

⁴ tn In the Greek text this is a continuation of the previous sentence, but because of the length and complexity of the construction a new sentence was started here in the translation.

⁵ tn Grk “And her.” Here καί (kai) has not been translated because of differences between Greek and English style.

⁶ sn Jesus ordered them to tell no one because he desired that miracles not become the center of his ministry.
