Another Prediction of Jesus’ Suffering

But while the entire crowd ⁷  was amazed at everything Jesus ⁸  was doing, he said to his disciples,

2:48 When ⁹  his parents ¹⁰  saw him, they were overwhelmed. His ¹¹  mother said to him, “Child, ¹²  why have you treated ¹³  us like this? Look, your father and I have been looking for you anxiously.” ¹⁴

⁴ sn Jesus’ teaching impressed the hearers with the directness of its claim (with authority). A study of Jewish rabbinic interpretation shows that it was typical to cite a list of authorities to make one’s point. Apparently Jesus addressed the issues in terms of his own understanding.

⁵ tn Here δέ (de) has been translated as “then” to indicate the response at the conclusion of the account.

⁶ sn The revelation of the mighty power of God was the manifestation of God’s power shown through Jesus. See Acts 10:38.
