¹ tn Here καί (kai) has been translated as “so” to indicate resultative nature of the action.

² tn That is, “information concerning a person or an event – ‘report, news, word, information’” (L&N 33.211).

³ sn Given Luke 4:31, the phrase the region is a reference to Galilee.

⁴ tn Here κατά (kata) has been translated “up to”; it could also be translated “upon.”

⁵ tn The clause containing the aorist active participle ἐλθών (elqwn) suggests that the Levite came up to the place, took a look, and then moved on.

⁷ sn Luke does not mention Gethsemane by name, but calls it simply the place.

⁸ sn Jesus’ instructions to pray not to fall into temptation is an allusion to Luke 22:28-38, especially 22:31. The temptation is Satan’s challenge to them to defect, like what happened to Judas and what will happen to Peter.
