Luke 4:37

4:37 So the news about him spread into all areas of the region.

Luke 10:32

10:32 So too a Levite, when he came up to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side.

Luke 22:40

22:40 When he came to the place, he said to them, “Pray that you will not fall into temptation.”

tn Here καί (kai) has been translated as “so” to indicate resultative nature of the action.

tn That is, “information concerning a person or an event – ‘report, news, word, information’” (L&N 33.211).

sn Given Luke 4:31, the phrase the region is a reference to Galilee.

tn Here κατά (kata) has been translated “up to”; it could also be translated “upon.”

tn The clause containing the aorist active participle ἐλθών (elqwn) suggests that the Levite came up to the place, took a look, and then moved on.

sn Luke does not mention Gethsemane by name, but calls it simply the place.

sn Jesus’ instructions to pray not to fall into temptation is an allusion to Luke 22:28-38, especially 22:31. The temptation is Satan’s challenge to them to defect, like what happened to Judas and what will happen to Peter.
