4:12 Now when Jesus heard that John had been imprisoned, he went into Galilee.

Matthew 11:18

sn John the Baptist was too separatist and ascetic for some, and so he was accused of not being directed by God, but by a demon.

sn This marriage of Herod to his brother Philip’s wife was a violation of OT law (Lev 18:16; 20:21). In addition, both Herod Antipas and Herodias had each left marriages to enter into this union.
