Restoration and Healing

9:18 As he was saying these things, a ruler came, bowed low before him, and said, “My daughter has just died, but come and lay your hand on her and she will live.” 9:19 Jesus and his disciples got up and followed him.

Mark 5:23-24

5:23 He asked him urgently, “My little daughter is near death. Come and lay your hands on her so that she may be healed and live.” 5:24 Jesus ¹  went with him, and a large crowd followed and pressed around him.

Luke 7:6

7:6 So ²  Jesus went with them. When ³  he was not far from the house, the centurion ⁴  sent friends to say to him, “Lord, do not trouble yourself, ⁵  for I am not worthy ⁶  to have you come under my roof.

¹ tn Grk “He”; the referent (Jesus) has been specified in the translation for clarity.

² tn Here δέ (de) has been translated as “so” to indicate the resultative action.

³ tn The participle ἀπέχοντος (apeconto") has been taken temporally.

⁴ sn See the note on the word centurion in 7:2.

⁵ tn Or “do not be bothered.”

⁶ sn Note the humility in the centurion’s statement I am not worthy in light of what others think (as v. 4 notes). See Luke 5:8 for a similar example of humility.
