Mark 10:21

10:21 As Jesus looked at him, he felt love for him and said, “You lack one thing. Go, sell whatever you have and give the money ¹  to the poor, and you will have treasure ²  in heaven. Then come, follow me.”

Luke 18:22

18:22 When Jesus heard this, he said to him, “One thing you still lack. Sell all that you have ³  and give the money ⁴  to the poor, ⁵  and you will have treasure ⁶  in heaven. Then ⁷  come, follow me.”

² sn The call for sacrifice comes with a promise of eternal reward: You will have treasure in heaven. Jesus’ call is a test to see how responsive the man is to God’s direction through him.
