Matthew 3:5-6

3:5 Then people from Jerusalem, ¹  as well as all Judea and all the region around the Jordan, were going out to him, 3:6 and he was baptizing them ²  in the Jordan River as they confessed their sins.

Matthew 4:25

4:25 And large crowds followed him from Galilee, the Decapolis, ³  Jerusalem, ⁴  Judea, and beyond the Jordan River. ⁵ 

¹ tn Grk “Then Jerusalem.”

² tn Grk “they were being baptized by him.” The passive construction has been rendered as active in the translation for the sake of English style.

³ tn Here καί (kai) has not been translated before each of the places in the list, since English normally uses a coordinating conjunction only between the last two elements in a series of three or more.
