Nehemiah 5:17

5:17 There were 150 Jews and officials who dined with me routinely, in addition to those who came to us from the nations all around us.

Nehemiah 7:2

7:2 I then put in charge over Jerusalem my brother Hanani and Hananiah the chief of the citadel, for he was a faithful man and feared God more than many do.

tn Heb “who were gathered around us at my table.”

tn Or “from the Gentiles.” The same Hebrew word can refer to “the Gentiles” or “the nations.” Cf. the phrase in 6:16.

tn Some have suggested that “Hananiah” is another name for Hanani, Nehemiah’s brother, so that only one individual is mentioned here. However, the third person plural in v. 3 indicates two people are in view.
