Psalms 102:15

102:15 The nations will respect the reputation of the Lord,

and all the kings of the earth will respect his splendor,

Psalms 117:1-2

Psalm 117

117:1 Praise the Lord, all you nations!

Applaud him, all you foreigners!

117:2 For his loyal love towers over us,

and the Lord’s faithfulness endures.

Praise the Lord!

tn Heb “will fear the name of the Lord.” To “fear” God’s name means to have a healthy respect for his revealed reputation which in turn motivates one to obey God’s commands (see Ps 86:11).

tn The verb “will fear” is understood by ellipsis in the second line (see the preceding line).

sn Psalm 117. The psalmist tells the nations to praise the Lord for his loyal love and faithfulness.

tn Or “peoples” (see Ps 108:3).

tn For this sense of the Hebrew verb גָּבַר (gavar), see Ps 103:11 and L. C. Allen, Psalms 101-150 (WBC), 17, 19.
