1 tn Heb “and wine [that] makes the heart of man happy.”
2 tn Heb “to make [the] face shine from oil.” The Hebrew verb צָהַל (tsahal, “to shine”) occurs only here in the OT. It appears to be an alternate form of צָהַר (tsahar), a derivative from צָהָרִים (tsaharim, “noon”).
3 tn Heb “and food [that] sustains the heart of man.”
4 sn Psalm 104. The psalmist praises God as the ruler of the world who sustains all life.
5 tn Heb “very great.”
6 sn Psalm 5. Appealing to God’s justice and commitment to the godly, the psalmist asks the Lord to intervene and deliver him from evildoers.
7 tn The meaning of the Hebrew word נְחִילוֹת (nÿkhilot), which occurs only here, is uncertain. Many relate the form to חָלִיל (khalil, “flute”).
8 tn Heb “my words.”
9 tn Or “sighing.” The word occurs only here and in Ps 39:3.
