Hebrews 2:11-13

2:11 For indeed he who makes holy and those being made holy all have the same origin, ⁸  and so ⁹  he is not ashamed to call them brothers and sisters, ¹⁰  2:12 saying, “I will proclaim your name to my brothers; ¹¹  in the midst of the assembly I will praise you.” ¹²  2:13 Again he says, ¹³  “I will be confident in him,” and again, “Here I am, ¹⁴  with ¹⁵  the children God has given me.” ¹⁶ 

¹ tn Or “brothers,” but here the term does not carry a literal familial sense. It refers to the psalmist’s fellow members of the Israelite covenant community (see v. 23).

² tn The pleonastic pronoun αὐτός (autos, “he”) which precedes this verb has not been translated.

³ tn Grk “answering, the king will say to them.” This is somewhat redundant and has been simplified in the translation.

In this context Jesus is ultimately speaking of his “followers” (whether men or women, adults or children), but the familial connotation of “brothers and sisters” is also important to retain here.
