Psalms 92:12-15

92:12 The godly grow like a palm tree;

they grow high like a cedar in Lebanon.

92:13 Planted in the Lord’s house,

they grow in the courts of our God.

92:14 They bear fruit even when they are old;

they are filled with vitality and have many leaves.

92:15 So they proclaim that the Lord, my protector,

is just and never unfair.

Revelation 7:9

7:9 After these things I looked, and here was an enormous crowd that no one could count, made up of persons from every nation, tribe, people, and language, standing before the throne and before the Lamb dressed in long white robes, and with palm branches in their hands.

tn The singular is used in a representative sense, with the typical godly person being in view.

sn The cedars of the Lebanon forest were well-known in ancient Israel for their immense size.

tn Heb “they are juicy and fresh.”

tn Heb “so that [they] proclaim that upright [is] the Lord, my rocky summit, and there is no injustice in him.”

tn The phrase “and here was” expresses the sense of καὶ ἰδού (kai idou).

tn Here καί (kai) has not been translated before each of the following categories, since English normally uses a coordinating conjunction only between the last two elements in a series of three or more.
