Psalms 107:29

107:29 He calmed the storm,

and the waves grew silent.

Psalms 39:2

39:2 I was stone silent;

I held back the urge to speak.

My frustration grew;

tn Heb “he raised [the] storm to calm.”

tn Heb “their waves.” The antecedent of the third masculine plural pronominal suffix is not readily apparent, unless it refers back to “waters” in v. 23.

tn Heb “I was mute [with] silence.”

tn Heb “I was quiet from good.” He kept quiet, resisting the urge to find emotional release and satisfaction by voicing his lament.

tn Heb “and my pain was stirred up.” Emotional pain is in view here.
