116:15 The Lord values
the lives of his faithful followers. 1
23:34 “For this reason I 4 am sending you prophets and wise men and experts in the law, 5 some of whom you will kill and crucify, 6 and some you will flog 7 in your synagogues 8 and pursue from town to town, 23:35 so that on you will come all the righteous blood shed on earth, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zechariah son of Barachiah, 9 whom you murdered between the temple and the altar. 23:36 I tell you the truth, 10 this generation will be held responsible for all these things! 11
23:1 Then Jesus said to the crowds and to his disciples,
2:16 When Herod 14 saw that he had been tricked by the wise men, he became enraged. He sent men 15 to kill all the children in Bethlehem 16 and throughout the surrounding region from the age of two and under, according to the time he had learned from the wise men.
6:9 Now 17 when the Lamb opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been violently killed 18 because of the word of God and because of the testimony they had given. 6:10 They 19 cried out with a loud voice, 20 “How long, 21 Sovereign Master, 22 holy and true, before you judge those who live on the earth and avenge our blood?” 6:11 Each 23 of them was given a long white robe and they were told to rest for a little longer, until the full number was reached 24 of both their fellow servants 25 and their brothers who were going to be killed just as they had been.
18:20 (Rejoice over her, O heaven,
and you saints and apostles and prophets,
for God has pronounced judgment 29 against her on your behalf!) 30
18:21 Then 31 one powerful angel picked up a stone like a huge millstone, threw it into the sea, and said,
“With this kind of sudden violent force 32
Babylon the great city will be thrown down 33
and it will never be found again!
18:22 And the sound of the harpists, musicians,
flute players, and trumpeters
will never be heard in you 34 again.
No 35 craftsman 36 who practices any trade
will ever be found in you again;
the noise of a mill 37 will never be heard in you again.
18:23 Even the light from a lamp
will never shine in you again!
The voices of the bridegroom and his bride
will never be heard in you again.
For your merchants were the tycoons of the world,
because all the nations 38 were deceived by your magic spells! 39
18:24 The 40 blood of the saints and prophets was found in her, 41
along with the blood 42 of all those who had been killed on the earth.”
19:2 because his judgments are true and just. 43
For he has judged 44 the great prostitute
who corrupted the earth with her sexual immorality,
and has avenged the blood of his servants 45 poured out by her own hands!” 46
