119:53 Rage takes hold of me because of the wicked,

those who reject your law.

Ezekiel 9:4

¹ tn Heb “[with] flowing streams my eyes go down.”

² tn Heb “they”; even though somewhat generic, the referent (people) has been specified in the translation for clarity.

³ tn Heb “through the midst of the city, through the midst of Jerusalem.”

⁴ tn The word translated “mark” is in Hebrew the letter ת (tav). Outside this context the only other occurrence of the word is in Job 31:35. In ancient Hebrew script this letter was written like the letter X.

⁵ tn The aorist participle περιβλεψάμενος (peribleyameno") has been translated as antecedent (prior) to the action of the main verb. It could also be translated as contemporaneous (“Looking around…he said”).

⁶ tn This term is a collective singular in the Greek text.

⁷ sn The passive was restored points to healing by God. Now the question became: Would God exercise his power through Jesus, if what Jesus was doing were wrong? Note also Jesus’ “labor.” He simply spoke and it was so.
