Psalms 45:5-6

45:5 Your arrows are sharp

and penetrate the hearts of the king’s enemies.

Nations fall at your feet.

45:6 Your throne, O God, is permanent.

The scepter of your kingdom is a scepter of justice.

tn Heb “your arrows are sharp – peoples beneath you fall – in the heart of the enemies of the king.” The choppy style reflects the poet’s excitement.

sn The king’s throne here symbolizes his rule.

tn Or “forever and ever.”

sn The king’s scepter symbolizes his royal authority.
