Psalms 59:12

59:12 They speak sinful words.

So let them be trapped by their own pride

and by the curses and lies they speak!

Psalms 62:4

62:4 They spend all their time planning how to bring him down.

They love to use deceit;

they pronounce blessings with their mouths,

but inwardly they utter curses. (Selah)

Romans 3:14

3:14Their mouths are full of cursing and bitterness.

tn Heb “the sin of their mouth [is] the word of their lips.”

tn That is, the psalmist’s enemies addressed in the previous verse.

tn That is, the generic “man” referred to in the previous verse.

tn Heb “only from his lofty place [or perhaps, “dignity”] they plan to drive [him] away.”

tn Heb “they delight [in] a lie.”

sn The enemies use deceit to bring down their victim. They make him think they are his friends by pronouncing blessings upon him, but inwardly they desire his demise.

tn Grk “whose mouth is.” Because of the length and complexity of the Greek sentence, a new sentence was started here in the translation.

sn A quotation from Ps 10:7.
