Salutation

1:1 From Paul, 11  an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, and Timothy our brother,

tn Heb “all [you] workers of wickedness.” See Ps 5:5.

sn The Lord has heard. The psalmist’s mood abruptly changes because the Lord responded positively to the lament and petition of vv. 1-7 and promised him deliverance.

tn Heb “assembly, company.”

tn Heb “sit.” The psalmist uses the imperfect form of the verb to emphasize that he does not make a practice of associating with such people.

tn Heb “do not gather up my life with.”

tn Heb “or with men of bloodshed my life.” The verb is supplied; it is understood by ellipsis (see the preceding line).

tn The Hebrew particle אִם (’im, “if”) and following prefixed verbal form here express a wish (see Pss 81:8; 95:7, as well as GKC 321 §109.b).

tn Heb “men of bloodshed.”

tn Grk “workers of lawlessness.”

10 tn Here καί (kai) has not been translated.

11 tn Grk “Paul.” The word “from” is not in the Greek text, but has been supplied to indicate the sender of the letter.
