61:2 From the most remote place on earth 1
I call out to you in my despair. 2
Lead me 3 up to an inaccessible rocky summit! 4
13:2 How long must I worry, 5
and suffer in broad daylight? 6
How long will my enemy gloat over me? 7
27:6 Now I will triumph
over my enemies who surround me! 8
I will offer sacrifices in his dwelling place and shout for joy! 9
I will sing praises to the Lord!
1 tn Heb “from the end of the earth.” This may indicate (1) the psalmist is exiled in a distant land, or (2) it may be hyperbolic (the psalmist feels alienated from God’s presence, as if he were in a distant land).
2 tn Heb “while my heart faints.”
3 tn The imperfect verbal form here expresses the psalmist’s wish or prayer.
4 tn Heb “on to a rocky summit [that] is higher than I.”
5 tn Heb “How long will I put counsel in my being?”
6 tn Heb “[with] grief in my heart by day.”
7 tn Heb “be exalted over me.” Perhaps one could translate, “How long will my enemy defeat me?”
9 tn Heb “and now my head will be lifted up over my enemies all around me.”
10 tn Heb “I will sacrifice in his tent sacrifices of a shout for joy” (that is, “sacrifices accompanied by a joyful shout”).
