² tn The statement is understood in a generalizing sense; God typically prevents the world from being overrun by chaos. One could take this as referring to an anticipated event, “I will make its pillars secure.”

³ tn Heb “will fear the name of the Lord.” To “fear” God’s name means to have a healthy respect for his revealed reputation which in turn motivates one to obey God’s commands (see Ps 86:11).

⁴ tn The verb “will fear” is understood by ellipsis in the second line (see the preceding line).

⁵ sn Psalm 103. The psalmist praises God for his mercy and willingness to forgive his people.
