1 John 2:7-8
2:7 Dear friends, I am not writing a new commandment to you, but an old commandment which you have had from the beginning. The old commandment is the word that you have already heard.
2:8 On the other hand, I am writing a new commandment to you which is true in him and in you, because the darkness is passing away and the true light is already shining.
1 John 2:13
2:13 I am writing to you, fathers, that
you have known him who has been from the beginning. I am writing to you, young people, that
you have conquered the evil one.
1 John 3:9
3:9 Everyone who has been fathered
by God does not practice sin,
because
God’s
seed
resides in him, and thus
he is not able to sin, because he has been fathered by God.
1 John 3:23-24
3:23 Now
this is his commandment:
that we believe in the name of his Son Jesus Christ and love one another, just as he gave
us the commandment.
3:24 And the person who keeps his commandments resides
in God,
and God
in him. Now by this
we know that God
resides in us: by the Spirit he has given us.
