1 Kings 20:23
20:23 Now the advisers
of the king of Syria said to him: “Their God is a god of the mountains. That’s why they overpowered us. But if we fight them in the plains, we will certainly overpower them.
1 Kings 20:28
20:28 The prophet
visited the king of Israel and said, “This is what the
Lord says: ‘Because the Syrians said, “The
Lord is a god of the mountains and not a god of the valleys,” I will hand over to you this entire huge army.
Then you will know that I am the
Lord.’”
Psalms 113:5
113:5 Who can compare to the Lord our God,
who sits on a high throne?
Psalms 139:1-10
Psalm 139
For the music director, a psalm of David.
139:1 O Lord, you examine me and know.
139:2 You know when I sit down and when I get up;
even from far away you understand my motives.
139:3 You carefully observe me when I travel or when I lie down to rest;
you are aware of everything I do.
139:4 Certainly my tongue does not frame a word
without you, O Lord, being thoroughly aware of it.
139:5 You squeeze me in from behind and in front;
you place your hand on me.
139:6 Your knowledge is beyond my comprehension;
it is so far beyond me, I am unable to fathom it.
139:7 Where can I go to escape your spirit?
Where can I flee to escape your presence?
139:8 If I were to ascend to heaven, you would be there.
If I were to sprawl out in Sheol, there you would be.
139:9 If I were to fly away on the wings of the dawn,
and settle down on the other side of the sea,
139:10 even there your hand would guide me,
your right hand would grab hold of me.
Ezekiel 20:32-35
20:32 “‘What you plan will never happen. You say, “We will be like the nations, like the clans of the lands, who serve gods of wood and stone.”
20:33 As surely as I live, declares the sovereign Lord, with a powerful hand and an outstretched arm, and with an outpouring of rage, I will be king over you.
20:34 I will bring you out from the nations, and will gather you from the lands where you are scattered, with a powerful hand and an outstretched arm and with an outpouring of rage!
20:35 I will bring you into the wilderness of the nations, and there I will enter into judgment with you face to face.
Jonah 1:3-4
1:3 Instead, Jonah immediately
headed off to Tarshish
to escape
from the commission of the
Lord.
He traveled
to Joppa
and found a merchant ship heading
to Tarshish.
So he paid the fare
and went aboard
it to go with them
to Tarshish
far away from the
Lord.
1:4 But
the
Lord hurled
a powerful
wind on the sea. Such a violent
tempest arose on the sea that
the ship threatened to break up!
