2 Peter 2:18-20
2:18 For by speaking high-sounding but empty words
they are able to entice,
with fleshly desires and with debauchery,
people
who have just escaped
from those who reside in error.
2:19 Although these false teachers promise
such people
freedom, they themselves are enslaved to
immorality.
For whatever a person succumbs to, to that he is enslaved.
2:20 For if after they have escaped the filthy things
of the world through the rich knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ,
they
again get entangled in them and succumb to them,
their last state has become worse for them than their first.
Galatians 6:8
6:8 because the person who sows to his own flesh
will reap corruption
from the flesh,
but the one who sows to the Spirit will reap eternal life from the Spirit.
James 4:1-3
Passions and Pride
4:1 Where do the conflicts and where do the quarrels among you come from? Is it not from this, from your passions that battle inside you?
4:2 You desire and you do not have; you murder and envy and you cannot obtain; you quarrel and fight. You do not have because you do not ask;
4:3 you ask and do not receive because you ask wrongly, so you can spend it on your passions.

James 2:15-16
2:15 If a brother or sister
is poorly clothed and lacks daily food,
2:16 and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, keep warm and eat well,” but you do not give them what the body needs,
what good is it?
