Deuteronomy 3:23-26
Denial to Moses of the Promised Land
3:23 Moreover, at that time I pleaded with the Lord,
3:24 “O, Lord God, you have begun to show me your greatness and strength. (What god in heaven or earth can rival your works and mighty deeds?)
3:25 Let me please cross over to see the good land on the other side of the Jordan River – this good hill country and the Lebanon!”
3:26 But the Lord was angry at me because of you and would not listen to me. Instead, he said to me, “Enough of that! Do not speak to me anymore about this matter.
Deuteronomy 4:21
4:21 But the
Lord became angry with me because of you and vowed that I would never cross the Jordan nor enter the good land that he
is about to give you.
Deuteronomy 34:4
34:4 Then the
Lord said to him, “This is the land I promised to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob when I said, ‘I will give it to your descendants.’
I have let you see it,
but you will not cross over there.”
Numbers 20:12
The Lord’s Judgment
20:12 Then the Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron, “Because you did not trust me enough to show me as holy before the Israelites, therefore you will not bring this community into the land I have given them.”
Numbers 27:13-14
27:13 When you have seen it, you will be gathered
to your ancestors,
as Aaron your brother was gathered to his ancestors.
27:14 For
in the wilderness of Zin when the community rebelled against me, you
rebelled against my command
to show me as holy
before their eyes over the water – the water of Meribah in Kadesh in the wilderness of Zin.”
Psalms 106:32-33
106:32 They made him angry by the waters of Meribah,
and Moses suffered because of them,
106:33 for they aroused his temper,
and he spoke rashly.
