Genesis 12:18-19
12:18 So Pharaoh summoned Abram and said, “What is this
you have done to me? Why didn’t you tell me that she was your wife?
12:19 Why did you say, ‘She is my sister,’ so that I took her
to be my wife?
Here is your wife!
Take her and go!”
Genesis 20:3
20:3 But God appeared to Abimelech in a dream at night and said to him, “You are as good as dead because of the woman you have taken, for she is someone else’s wife.”
Jeremiah 3:1
3:1 “If a man divorces his wife
and she leaves him and becomes another man’s wife,
he may not take her back again.
Doing that would utterly defile the land.
But you, Israel, have given yourself as a prostitute to many gods.
So what makes you think you can return to me?”
says the Lord.
Romans 7:2-3
7:2 For a married woman is bound by law to her husband as long as he lives, but if her
husband dies, she is released from the law of the marriage.
7:3 So then,
if she is joined to another man while her husband is alive, she will be called an adulteress. But if her
husband dies, she is free from that law, and if she is joined to another man, she is not an adulteress.
Romans 7:1
