Hosea 11:2

11:2 But the more I summoned them,

the farther they departed from me.

They sacrificed to the Baal idols

and burned incense to images.

Job 21:14-15

21:14 So they say to God, ‘Turn away from us!

We do not want to know your ways.

21:15 Who is the Almighty, that we should serve him?

What would we gain

if we were to pray to him?’

Job 22:17

22:17 They were saying to God, ‘Turn away from us,’

and ‘What can the Almighty do to us?’

Psalms 139:7-9

139:7 Where can I go to escape your spirit?

Where can I flee to escape your presence?

139:8 If I were to ascend to heaven, you would be there.

If I were to sprawl out in Sheol, there you would be.

139:9 If I were to fly away on the wings of the dawn,

and settle down on the other side of the sea,

Jonah 1:3

1:3 Instead, Jonah immediately headed off to Tarshish to escape from the commission of the Lord. He traveled to Joppa and found a merchant ship heading to Tarshish. So he paid the fare and went aboard it to go with them to Tarshish far away from the Lord.

Jonah 1:10

1:10 Hearing this, the men became even more afraid and said to him, “What have you done?” (The men said this because they knew that he was trying to escape from the Lord, because he had previously told them.)
