Egypt Will Prove Unreliable
30:1 “The rebellious children are as good as dead,” says the Lord,
“those who make plans without consulting me,
who form alliances without consulting my Spirit,
and thereby compound their sin.
Isaiah 57:12
57:12 I will denounce your so-called righteousness and your deeds,
but they will not help you.
Isaiah 64:6
64:6 We are all like one who is unclean,
all our so-called righteous acts are like a menstrual rag in your sight.
We all wither like a leaf;
our sins carry us away like the wind.
Romans 3:20-22
3:20 For
no one is declared righteous before him by the works of the law,
for through the law comes
the knowledge of sin.
3:21 But now
apart from the law the righteousness of God (which is attested by the law and the prophets)
has been disclosed –
3:22 namely, the righteousness of God through the faithfulness of Jesus Christ
for all who believe. For there is no distinction,
Romans 4:6-8
4:6 So even David himself speaks regarding the blessedness of the man to whom God credits righteousness apart from works:
4:7 “Blessed are those whose lawless deeds are forgiven, and whose sins are covered;
4:8 blessed is the one against whom the Lord will never count sin.”
Revelation 3:17-18
3:17 Because you say, “I am rich and have acquired great wealth,
and need nothing,” but
do not realize that you are wretched, pitiful,
poor, blind, and naked,
3:18 take my advice
and buy gold from me refined by fire so you can become rich! Buy from me
white clothing so you can be clothed and your shameful nakedness
will not be exposed, and buy eye salve
to put on your eyes so you can see!
