Isaiah 40:11
40:11 Like a shepherd he tends his flock;
he gathers up the lambs with his arm;
he carries them close to his heart;
he leads the ewes along.
Ezekiel 34:14-15
34:14 In a good pasture I will feed them; the mountain heights of Israel will be their pasture. There they will lie down in a lush
pasture, and they will feed on rich grass on the mountains of Israel.
34:15 I myself will feed my sheep and I myself will make them lie down, declares the sovereign
Lord.
Ezekiel 34:27
34:27 The trees of the field will yield their fruit and the earth will yield its crops. They will live securely on their land; they will know that I am the
Lord, when I break the bars of their yoke and rescue them from the hand of those who enslaved them.
Matthew 23:37
Judgment on Israel
23:37 “O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those who are sent to you! How often I have longed to gather your children together as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you would have none of it!
John 6:50-58
6:50 This
is the bread that has come down from heaven, so that a person
may eat from it and not die.
6:51 I am the living bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats from this bread he will live forever. The bread
that I will give for the life of the world is my flesh.”
6:52 Then the Jews who were hostile to Jesus began to argue with one another, “How can this man give us his flesh to eat?”
6:53 Jesus said to them, “I tell you the solemn truth, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in yourselves.
6:54 The one who eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day.
6:55 For my flesh is true food, and my blood is true drink.
6:56 The one who eats my flesh and drinks my blood resides in me, and I in him.
6:57 Just as the living Father sent me, and I live because of the Father, so the one who consumes me will live because of me.
6:58 This is the bread that came down from heaven; it is not like the bread your ancestors ate, but then later died. The one who eats this bread will live forever.”
