Isaiah 43:1-2
The Lord Will Rescue His People
43:1 Now, this is what the Lord says,
the one who created you, O Jacob,
and formed you, O Israel:
“Don’t be afraid, for I will protect you.
I call you by name, you are mine.
43:2 When you pass through the waters, I am with you;
when you pass through the streams, they will not overwhelm you.
When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned;
the flames will not harm you.
Jonah 2:2-7
2:2 and said,
“I called out to the Lord from my distress,
and he answered me;
from the belly of Sheol I cried out for help,
and you heard my prayer.
2:3 You threw me into the deep waters,
into the middle of the sea;
the ocean current engulfed me;
all the mighty waves you sent swept over me.
2:4 I thought I had been banished from your sight,
that I would never again see your holy temple!
2:5 Water engulfed me up to my neck;
the deep ocean surrounded me;
seaweed was wrapped around my head.
2:6 I went down to the very bottoms of the mountains;
the gates of the netherworld barred me in forever;
but you brought me up from the Pit, O Lord, my God.
2:7 When my life was ebbing away, I called out to the Lord,
and my prayer came to your holy temple.
Matthew 12:40
12:40 For just as Jonah was
in the belly of the huge fish for three days and three nights,
so the Son of Man will be in the heart of the earth for three days and three nights.
Revelation 12:15-16
12:15 Then
the serpent spouted water like a river out of his mouth after the woman in an attempt to
sweep her away by a flood,
12:16 but
the earth came to her rescue;
the ground opened up
and swallowed the river that the dragon had spewed from his mouth.
