Isaiah 48:8
48:8 You did not hear,
you do not know,
you were not told beforehand.
For I know that you are very deceitful;
you were labeled a rebel from birth.
Psalms 40:6-8
40:6 Receiving sacrifices and offerings are not your primary concern.
You make that quite clear to me!
You do not ask for burnt sacrifices and sin offerings.
40:7 Then I say,
“Look! I come!
What is written in the scroll pertains to me.
40:8 I want to do what pleases you, my God.
Your law dominates my thoughts.”
Matthew 26:39
26:39 Going a little farther, he threw himself down with his face to the ground and prayed,
“My Father, if possible,
let this cup
pass from me! Yet not what I will, but what you will.”
John 8:29
8:29 And the one who sent me is with me. He has not left me alone,
because I always do those things that please him.”
John 14:31
14:31 but I am doing just what the Father commanded me, so that the world may know
that I love the Father.
Get up, let us go from here.”
John 15:10
15:10 If you obey
my commandments, you will remain
in my love, just as I have obeyed
my Father’s commandments and remain
in his love.
Philippians 2:8
2:8 He humbled himself,
by becoming obedient to the point of death
– even death on a cross!
Hebrews 5:8
5:8 Although he was a son, he learned obedience through the things he suffered.
Hebrews 10:5-9
10:5 So when he came into the world, he said,
“Sacrifice and offering you did not desire, but a body you prepared for me.
10:6 “Whole burnt offerings and sin-offerings you took no delight in.
10:7 “Then I said, ‘Here I am: I have come – it is written of me in the scroll of the book – to do your will, O God.’”
10:8 When he says above, “Sacrifices and offerings and whole burnt offerings and sin-offerings you did not desire nor did you take delight in them” (which are offered according to the law),
10:9 then he says, “Here I am: I have come to do your will.” He does away with the first to establish the second.
