Judges 6:11-12
Gideon Meets Some Visitors
6:11 The Lord’s angelic messenger came and sat down under the oak tree in Ophrah owned by Joash the Abiezrite. He arrived while Joash’s son Gideon was threshing wheat in a winepress so he could hide it from the Midianites.
6:12 The Lord’s messenger appeared and said to him, “The Lord is with you, courageous warrior!”
Genesis 16:7-13
16:7 The Lord’s angel found Hagar near a spring of water in the desert – the spring that is along the road to Shur.
16:8 He said, “Hagar, servant of Sarai, where have you come from, and where are you going?” She replied, “I’m running away from my mistress, Sarai.”
16:9 Then the Lord’s angel said to her, “Return to your mistress and submit to her authority.
16:10 I will greatly multiply your descendants,” the Lord’s angel added, “so that they will be too numerous to count.”
16:11 Then the Lord’s angel said to her,
“You are now pregnant
and are about to give birth to a son.
You are to name him Ishmael,
for the Lord has heard your painful groans.
16:12 He will be a wild donkey of a man.
He will be hostile to everyone,
and everyone will be hostile to him.
He will live away from his brothers.”
16:13 So Hagar named the Lord who spoke to her, “You are the God who sees me,” for she said, “Here I have seen one who sees me!”
Luke 1:11

to him.
Luke 1:28-38
1:28 The
angel
came
to her and said, “Greetings, favored one,
the Lord is with you!”
1:29 But
she was greatly troubled
by his words and began to wonder about the meaning of this greeting.
1:30 So
the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid,
Mary, for you have found favor
with God!
1:31 Listen:
You will become pregnant
and give birth to
a son, and you will name him
Jesus.
1:32 He
will be great,
and will be called the Son of the Most High,
and the Lord God will give him the throne of his father
David.
1:33 He
will reign over the house of Jacob
forever, and his kingdom will never end.”
1:34 Mary
said to the angel, “How will this be, since I have not had sexual relations with
a man?”
1:35 The angel replied,
“The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow
you. Therefore the child
to be born
will be holy;
he will be called the Son of God.
1:36 “And look, your relative Elizabeth has also become pregnant with a son in her old age – although she was called barren, she is now in her sixth month!
1:37 For nothing will be impossible with God.”
1:38 So Mary said, “Yes, I am a servant of the Lord; let this happen to me according to your word.” Then the angel departed from her.
