Jeremiah 27:12
27:12 I told King Zedekiah of Judah the same thing. I said, “Submit to the yoke of servitude to the king of Babylon. Be subject to him and his people. Then you will continue to live.
Jeremiah 27:17
27:17 Do not listen to them. Be subject to the king of Babylon. Then you
will continue to live. Why should this city be made a pile of rubble?’”
Jeremiah 41:18
41:18 They were afraid of what the Babylonians might do
because Ishmael son of Nethaniah had killed Gedaliah son of Ahikam, whom the king of Babylon had appointed to govern the country.

41:2 Ishmael son of Nethaniah and the ten men who were with him stood up, pulled out their swords, and killed Gedaliah, the son of Ahikam and grandson of Shaphan. Thus Ishmael killed the man that the king of Babylon had appointed to govern the country.
