Jeremiah 44:1
The Lord Will Punish the Judean Exiles in Egypt for Their Idolatry
44:1 The Lord spoke to Jeremiah concerning all the Judeans who were living in the land of Egypt, those in Migdol, Tahpanhes, Memphis, and in the region of southern Egypt.
Jeremiah 9:26
9:26 That is, I will punish the Egyptians, the Judeans, the Edomites, the Ammonites, the Moabites, and all the desert people who cut their hair short at the temples.
I will do so because none of the people of those nations are really circumcised in the
Lord’s sight.
Moreover, none of the people of Israel
are circumcised when it comes to their hearts.”
Jeremiah 13:13
13:13 Then
tell them, ‘The
Lord says, “I will soon fill all the people who live in this land with stupor.
I will also fill the kings from David’s dynasty,
the priests, the prophets, and the citizens of Jerusalem with stupor.
Jeremiah 32:12
32:12 I took both copies of the deed of purchase
and gave them to Baruch son of Neriah, the son of Mahseiah. I gave them to him in the presence
of my cousin
Hanamel, the witnesses who had signed the deed of purchase, and all the Judeans who were housed in the courtyard of the guardhouse.
Jeremiah 44:15
44:15 Then all the men who were aware that their wives were sacrificing to other gods, as well as all their wives, answered Jeremiah. There was a great crowd of them representing all the people who lived in northern and southern Egypt. They answered,
Jeremiah 44:26
44:26 But
listen to what the
Lord has to say, all you people of Judah who are living in the land of Egypt. The
Lord says, ‘I hereby swear by my own great name that none of the people of Judah who are living anywhere in Egypt will ever again invoke my name in their oaths! Never again will any of them use it in an oath saying, “As surely as the Lord
God lives….”
