Job 14:10-12

14:10 But man dies and is powerless;

he expires – and where is he?

14:11 As water disappears from the sea,

or a river drains away and dries up,

14:12 so man lies down and does not rise;

until the heavens are no more,

they will not awake

nor arise from their sleep.

Psalms 90:10

90:10 The days of our lives add up to seventy years,

or eighty, if one is especially strong.

Ecclesiastes 1:4

1:4 A generation comes and a generation goes,

Ecclesiastes 9:1-3

Everyone Will Die

9:1 So I reflected on all this, attempting to clear it all up.

I concluded that the righteous and the wise, as well as their works, are in the hand of God;

whether a person will be loved or hated

no one knows what lies ahead.

9:2 Everyone shares the same fate

the righteous and the wicked,

the good and the bad,

the ceremonially clean and unclean,

those who offer sacrifices and those who do not.

What happens to the good person, also happens to the sinner;

what happens to those who make vows, also happens to those who are afraid to make vows.

9:3 This is the unfortunate fact about everything that happens on earth:

the same fate awaits everyone.

In addition to this, the hearts of all people are full of evil,

and there is folly in their hearts during their lives – then they die.

Ecclesiastes 12:5

12:5 and they are afraid of heights and the dangers in the street;

the almond blossoms grow white,

and the grasshopper drags itself along,

and the caper berry shrivels up

because man goes to his eternal home,

and the mourners go about in the streets –

Ecclesiastes 12:7

12:7 and the dust returns to the earth as it was,

and the life’s breath returns to God who gave it.

Acts 13:36

13:36 For David, after he had served God’s purpose in his own generation, died, was buried with his ancestors, and experienced decay,

Hebrews 7:23-24

7:23 And the others who became priests were numerous, because death prevented them from continuing in office, 7:24 but he holds his priesthood permanently since he lives forever.

Hebrews 9:27

9:27 And just as people are appointed to die once, and then to face judgment,

Hebrews 9:2

9:2 For a tent was prepared, the outer one, which contained the lampstand, the table, and the presentation of the loaves; this is called the holy place.

Hebrews 3:2-4

3:2 who is faithful to the one who appointed him, as Moses was also in God’s house. 3:3 For he has come to deserve greater glory than Moses, just as the builder of a house deserves greater honor than the house itself! 3:4 For every house is built by someone, but the builder of all things is God.
