John 15:18-19
The World’s Hatred
15:18 “If the world hates you, be aware that it hated me first.
15:19 If you belonged to the world, the world would love you as its own. However, because you do not belong to the world, but I chose you out of the world, for this reason the world hates you.
John 17:14
17:14 I have given them your word,
and the world has hated them, because they do not belong to the world,
just as I do not belong to the world.
John 17:16
17:16 They do not belong to the world
just as I do not belong to the world.
James 4:4
4:4 Adulterers, do you not know that friendship with the world means hostility toward God? So whoever decides to be the world’s friend makes himself God’s enemy.
James 4:1
Passions and Pride
4:1 Where do the conflicts and where do the quarrels among you come from? Is it not from this, from your passions that battle inside you?
James 2:15-16
2:15 If a brother or sister
is poorly clothed and lacks daily food,
2:16 and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, keep warm and eat well,” but you do not give them what the body needs,
what good is it?
James 4:5-6
4:5 Or do you think the scripture means nothing when it says,
“The spirit that God
caused
to live within us has an envious yearning”?
4:6 But he gives greater grace. Therefore it says, “
God opposes the proud, but he gives grace to the humble.”
James 5:19-20
5:19 My brothers and sisters, if anyone among you wanders from the truth and someone turns him back,
5:20 he should know that the one who turns a sinner back from his wandering path will save that person’s soul from death and will cover a multitude of sins.
