Luke 12:47-48
12:47 That
servant who knew his master’s will but did not get ready or do what his master asked
will receive a severe beating.
12:48 But the one who did not know his master’s will
and did things worthy of punishment
will receive a light beating.
From everyone who has been given much, much will be required,
and from the one who has been entrusted with much,
even more will be asked.
John 3:19-20
3:19 Now this is the basis for judging:
that the light has come into the world and people
loved the darkness rather than the light, because their deeds were evil.
3:20 For everyone who does evil deeds hates the light and does not come to the light, so that their deeds will not be exposed.
John 9:39-41
9:39 Jesus
said,]
“For judgment I have come into this world, so that those who do not see may gain their sight,
and the ones who see may become blind.”
9:40 Some of the Pharisees who were with him heard this and asked him, “We are not blind too, are we?”
9:41 Jesus replied, “If you were blind, you would not be guilty of sin, but now because you claim that you can see, your guilt remains.”
John 15:22-24
15:22 If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not be guilty of sin.
But they no longer have any excuse for their sin.
15:23 The one who hates me hates my Father too.
15:24 If I had not performed
among them the miraculous deeds
that no one else did, they would not be guilty of sin.
But now they have seen the deeds
and have hated both me and my Father.
Romans 1:32
1:32 Although they fully know
God’s righteous decree that those who practice such things deserve to die,
they not only do them but also approve of those who practice them.
Romans 2:17-24
The Condemnation of the Jew
2:17 But if you call yourself a Jew and rely on the law and boast of your relationship to God
2:18 and know his will and approve the superior things because you receive instruction from the law,
2:19 and if you are convinced that you yourself are a guide to the blind, a light to those who are in darkness,
2:20 an educator of the senseless, a teacher of little children, because you have in the law the essential features of knowledge and of the truth –
2:21 therefore you who teach someone else, do you not teach yourself? You who preach against stealing, do you steal?
2:22 You who tell others not to commit adultery, do you commit adultery? You who abhor idols, do you rob temples?
2:23 You who boast in the law dishonor God by transgressing the law!
2:24 For just as it is written, “the name of God is being blasphemed among the Gentiles because of you.”
James 4:17
4:17 So whoever knows what is good to do
and does not do it is guilty of sin.
