Luke 3:8
3:8 Therefore produce
fruit
that proves your repentance, and don’t begin to say
to yourselves, ‘We have Abraham as our father.’
For I tell you that God can raise up children for Abraham from these stones!

How often I have longed
to gather your children together as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but
you would have none of it!

master commended the dishonest
manager because he acted shrewdly.
For the people
of this world are more shrewd in dealing with their contemporaries
than the people
of light.

Jesus
said to them, “You are the ones who justify yourselves in men’s eyes,
but God knows your hearts. For what is highly prized
among men is utterly detestable
in God’s sight.
Luke 18:11
18:11 The Pharisee stood and prayed about himself like this:
‘God, I thank
you that I am not like other people:
extortionists,
unrighteous people,
adulterers – or even like this tax collector.
Luke 18:13
18:13 The tax collector, however, stood
far off and would not even look up
to heaven, but beat his breast and said, ‘God, be merciful
to me, sinner that I am!’

Paying Taxes to Caesar
20:20 Then they watched him carefully and sent spies who pretended to be sincere. They wanted to take advantage of what he might say so that they could deliver him up to the authority and jurisdiction of the governor.
Luke 23:2
23:2 They
began to accuse
him, saying, “We found this man subverting
our nation, forbidding
us to pay the tribute tax
to Caesar
and claiming that he himself is Christ,
a king.”
Luke 23:35
23:35 The people also stood there watching, but the rulers ridiculed
him, saying, “He saved others. Let him save
himself if
he is the Christ
of God, his chosen one!”
Luke 24:12
24:12 But Peter got up and ran to the tomb.
He bent down
and saw only the strips of linen cloth;
then he went home,
wondering
what had happened.
