Matthew 16:21
First Prediction of Jesus’ Death and Resurrection
16:21 From that time on Jesus began to show his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things at the hands of the elders, chief priests, and experts in the law, and be killed, and on the third day be raised.
Matthew 20:19
20:19 and will turn him over to the Gentiles to be mocked and flogged severely
and crucified.
Yet
on the third day, he will be raised.”
Matthew 27:63-64
27:63 and said, “Sir, we remember that while that deceiver was still alive he said, ‘After three days I will rise again.’
27:64 So give orders to secure the tomb until the third day. Otherwise his disciples may come and steal his body
and say to the people, ‘He has been raised from the dead,’ and the last deception will be worse than the first.”
Mark 9:9-10
9:9 As they were coming down from the mountain, he gave them orders not to tell anyone what they had seen until after the Son of Man had risen from the dead.
9:10 They kept this statement to themselves, discussing what this rising from the dead meant.
Luke 18:33-34
18:33 They will flog him severely
and kill him. Yet
on the third day he will rise again.”
18:34 But
the twelve
understood none of these things. This
saying was hidden from them, and they did not grasp
what Jesus meant.
