Matthew 3:10
3:10 Even now the ax is laid at
the root of the trees, and every tree that does not produce good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire.
Matthew 7:15-20
A Tree and Its Fruit
7:15 “Watch out for false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing but inwardly are voracious wolves.
7:16 You will recognize them by their fruit. Grapes are not gathered from thorns or figs from thistles, are they?
7:17 In the same way, every good tree bears good fruit, but the bad tree bears bad fruit.
7:18 A good tree is not able to bear bad fruit, nor a bad tree to bear good fruit.
7:19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.
7:20 So then, you will recognize them by their fruit.
Matthew 21:19
21:19 After noticing a fig tree
by the road he went to it, but found nothing on it except leaves. He said to it, “Never again will there be fruit from you!” And the fig tree withered at once.
Luke 13:7-9
13:7 So
he said to the worker who tended the vineyard, ‘For
three years
now, I have come looking for fruit on this fig tree, and each time I inspect it
I find none. Cut
it down! Why
should it continue to deplete
the soil?’
13:8 But the worker
answered him, ‘Sir, leave it alone this year too, until I dig around it and put fertilizer
on it.
13:9 Then if
it bears fruit next year,
very well,
but if
not, you can cut it down.’”
John 15:2-8
15:2 He takes away
every branch that does not bear
fruit in me. He
prunes
every branch that bears
fruit so that it will bear more fruit.
15:3 You are clean already
because of the word that I have spoken to you.
15:4 Remain
in me, and I will remain in you.
Just as the branch cannot bear fruit by itself,
unless it remains
in
the vine, so neither can you unless you remain
in me.
15:5 “I am the vine; you are the branches. The one who remains in me – and I in him – bears much fruit, because apart from me you can accomplish nothing.
15:6 If anyone does not remain in me, he is thrown out like a branch, and dries up; and such branches are gathered up and thrown into the fire, and are burned up.
15:7 If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you want, and it will be done for you.
15:8 My Father is honored by this, that you bear much fruit and show that you are my disciples.
