came to him, he was still standing by his burnt offering, along with the princes of Moab. And Balak said to him, “What has the
Lord spoken?”
Numbers 22:35

Lord said to Balaam, “Go with the men, but you may only speak
the word that I will speak to you.”
So Balaam went with the princes of Balak.
Numbers 31:54
31:54 So Moses and Eleazar the priest received the gold from the commanders of thousands and commanders
of hundreds and brought it into the tent of meeting as a memorial
for the Israelites before the
Lord.
