“I will never be upended.”

1:20 But she replied
to them,
“Don’t call me ‘Naomi’!
Call me ‘Mara’
because the Sovereign One
has treated me very harshly.

but the
Lord has caused me to return empty-handed.
Why do you call me ‘Naomi,’ seeing that
the
Lord has opposed me,
and the Sovereign One
has caused me to suffer?”
Ruth 1:1

Ruth 2:5-7
2:5 Boaz asked
his servant
in charge of the harvesters, “To whom does this young woman belong?”
2:6 The servant in charge of the harvesters replied, “She’s the young Moabite woman who came back with Naomi from the region of Moab.
2:7 She asked,
‘May I follow the harvesters and gather
grain among the bundles?’
Since she arrived she has been working hard
from this morning until now
– except for
sitting
in the resting hut
a short time.”
Ruth 2:2
2:2 One day Ruth the Moabite said to Naomi, “Let me go
to the fields so I can gather

Job 1:10-17
1:10 Have you
not made a hedge
around him and his household and all that he has on every side? You have blessed
the work of his hands, and his livestock
have increased
in the land.
1:11 But
extend your hand and strike
everything he has, and he will no doubt
curse you
to your face!”
1:12 So the Lord said to Satan, “All right then, everything he has is in your power. Only do not extend your hand against the man himself!” So Satan went out from the presence of the Lord.

1:14 and a messenger came to Job, saying, “The oxen were plowing and the donkeys were grazing beside them,
1:15 and the Sabeans swooped down and carried them all away, and they killed the servants with the sword! And I – only I alone – escaped to tell you!”
1:16 While this one was still speaking, another messenger arrived and said, “The fire of God has fallen from heaven and has burned up the sheep and the servants – it has consumed them! And I – only I alone – escaped to tell you!”
1:17 While this one was still speaking another messenger arrived and said, “The Chaldeans formed three bands and made a raid on the camels and carried them all away, and they killed the servants with the sword! And I – only I alone – escaped to tell you!”
