Psalms 42:1-2

Book 2
(Psalms 42-72)

Psalm 42

For the music director; a well-written song by the Korahites.

42:1 As a deer longs for streams of water,

so I long for you, O God!

42:2 I thirst for God,

for the living God.

I say, “When will I be able to go and appear in God’s presence?”

Psalms 104:34

104:34 May my thoughts be pleasing to him!

I will rejoice in the Lord.

Psalms 143:6-8

143:6 I spread my hands out to you in prayer;

my soul thirsts for you in a parched land.

143:7 Answer me quickly, Lord!

My strength is fading.

Do not reject me,

or I will join those descending into the grave.

143:8 May I hear about your loyal love in the morning,

for I trust in you.

Show me the way I should go,

because I long for you.

Isaiah 26:8-9

26:8 Yes, as your judgments unfold,

O Lord, we wait for you.

We desire your fame and reputation to grow.

26:9 I look for you during the night,

my spirit within me seeks you at dawn,

for when your judgments come upon the earth,

those who live in the world learn about justice.

Habakkuk 3:17-18

3:17 When the fig tree does not bud,

and there are no grapes on the vines;

when the olive trees do not produce,

and the fields yield no crops;

when the sheep disappear from the pen,

and there are no cattle in the stalls,

3:18 I will rejoice because of the Lord;

I will be happy because of the God who delivers me!

Matthew 10:37

10:37 “Whoever loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me, and whoever loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.

Philippians 3:8

3:8 More than that, I now regard all things as liabilities compared to the far greater value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things – indeed, I regard them as dung! – that I may gain Christ,
