Psalm 8
For the music director, according to the gittith style; a psalm of David.
8:1 O Lord, our Lord,
how magnificent is your reputation throughout the earth!
You reveal your majesty in the heavens above!
Matthew 22:42-46
22:42 “What do you think about the Christ?
Whose son is he?” They said, “The son of David.”
22:43 He said to them, “How then does David by the Spirit call him ‘Lord,’ saying,
22:44 ‘The Lord said to my lord,
“Sit at my right hand,
until I put your enemies under your feet”’?
22:45 If David then calls him ‘Lord,’ how can he be his son?”
22:46 No one was able to answer him a word, and from that day on no one dared to question him any longer.
Mark 12:35-37
The Messiah: David’s Son and Lord
12:35 While Jesus was teaching in the temple courts, he said, “How is it that the experts in the law say that the Christ is David’s son?
12:36 David himself, by the Holy Spirit, said,
‘The Lord said to my lord,
“Sit at my right hand,
until I put your enemies under your feet.”’
12:37 If David himself calls him ‘Lord,’ how can he be his son?” And the large crowd was listening to him with delight.
