The Song of Songs 1:7-8
The Shepherd and the Shepherdess
The Beloved to Her Lover:
1:7 Tell me, O you whom my heart loves,
where do you pasture your sheep?
Where do you rest your sheep during the midday heat?
Tell me lest I wander around
beside the flocks of your companions!
The Lover to His Beloved:
1:8 If you do not know, O most beautiful of women,
simply follow the tracks of my flock,
and pasture your little lambs
beside the tents of the shepherds.
Isaiah 40:11
40:11 Like a shepherd he tends his flock;
he gathers up the lambs with his arm;
he carries them close to his heart;
he leads the ewes along.
Isaiah 41:14
41:14 Don’t be afraid, despised insignificant Jacob,
men of Israel.
I am helping you,” says the Lord,
your protector, the Holy One of Israel.
Isaiah 53:6
53:6 All of us had wandered off like sheep;
each of us had strayed off on his own path,
but the Lord caused the sin of all of us to attack him.
Matthew 7:15
A Tree and Its Fruit
7:15 “Watch out for false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing but inwardly are voracious wolves.
Matthew 18:12-14
18:12 What do you think? If someone
owns a hundred
sheep and one of them goes astray, will he not leave the ninety-nine on the mountains and go look for the one that went astray?
18:13 And if he finds it, I tell you the truth,
he will rejoice more over it than over the ninety-nine that did not go astray.
18:14 In the same way, your Father in heaven is not willing that one of these little ones be lost.
Matthew 20:16
20:16 So the last will be first, and the first last.”
John 10:26-30
10:26 But you refuse to believe because you are not my sheep.
10:27 My sheep listen to my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.
10:28 I give
them eternal life, and they will never perish;
no one will snatch
them from my hand.
10:29 My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all,
and no one can snatch
them from my Father’s hand.
10:30 The Father and I
are one.”
