1 Samuel 25:42-43

25:42 Then Abigail quickly went and mounted her donkey, with five of her female servants accompanying her. ¹  She followed David’s messengers and became his wife.

25:43 David had also married ²  Ahinoam from Jezreel; the two of them became his wives.

1 Samuel 30:5

30:5 David’s two wives had been taken captive – Ahinoam the Jezreelite and Abigail the Carmelite, Nabal’s widow.

Luke 22:28-29

22:28 “You are the ones who have remained ³  with me in my trials. 22:29 Thus ⁴  I grant ⁵  to you a kingdom, ⁶  just as my Father granted to me,

[22:28]  ³ tn Or “continued” (L&N 34.3). Jesus acknowledges the disciples’ faithfulness.

[22:29]  ⁴ tn Here καί (kai) has been translated as “thus” to indicate the implied result of the disciples’ perseverance with Jesus.

[22:29]  ⁵ sn With the statement “I grant to you a kingdom” Jesus gave the disciples authority over the kingdom, as God had given him such authority. The present tense looks at authority given presently, though the major manifestation of its presence is yet to come as the next verse shows.
