Matthew 12:39

12:39 But he answered them, ³  “An evil and adulterous generation asks for a sign, but no sign will be given to it except the sign of the prophet Jonah.

Matthew 16:4

16:4 A wicked and adulterous generation asks for a sign, but no sign will be given to it except the sign of Jonah.” Then ⁴  he left them and went away.

Luke 11:29-30

The Sign of Jonah

11:29 As ⁵  the crowds were increasing, Jesus ⁶  began to say, “This generation is a wicked generation; it looks for a sign, ⁷  but no sign will be given to it except the sign of Jonah. ⁸  11:30 For just as Jonah became a sign to the people of Nineveh, ⁹  so the Son of Man will be a sign ¹⁰  to this generation. ¹¹ 

Luke 11:32

11:32 The people ¹²  of Nineveh will stand up at the judgment with this generation and condemn it, because they repented when Jonah preached to them ¹³  – and now, ¹⁴  something greater than Jonah is here!
