[4:33]  1 tn Heb “and closed the door behind the two of them.”

[7:6]  2 tn Or “otherwise the latter will trample them under their feet and the former will turn around and tear you to pieces.” This verse is sometimes understood as a chiasm of the pattern a-b-b-a, in which the first and last clauses belong together (“dogs…turn around and tear you to pieces”) and the second and third clauses belong together (“pigs…trample them under their feet”).

[9:24]  3 tn Grk “They were laughing at him.” The imperfect verb has been taken ingressively.

[8:53]  4 tn This imperfect verb has been translated as an ingressive imperfect.

[8:53]  5 tn The participle εἰδότες (eidotes) has been translated as a causal adverbial participle.

[8:53]  6 tn Or “had died.”

[8:54]  7 tn Grk “he”; the referent (Jesus) has been specified in the translation for clarity.

[8:54]  8 tn Grk “and called, saying.” This is redundant in contemporary English and has been simplified in the translation to “and said.”
