2 Kings 4:33-35
Context4:33 He went in by himself and closed the door. 1 Then he prayed to the Lord. 4:34 He got up on the bed and spread his body out over 2 the boy; he put his mouth on the boy’s 3 mouth, his eyes over the boy’s eyes, and the palms of his hands against the boy’s palms. He bent down over him, and the boy’s skin 4 grew warm. 4:35 Elisha 5 went back and walked around in the house. 6 Then he got up on the bed again 7 and bent down over him. The child sneezed seven times and opened his eyes.
Acts 10:10
Context10:10 He became hungry and wanted to eat, but while they were preparing the meal, a trance came over him. 8
[4:33] 1 tn Heb “and closed the door behind the two of them.”
[4:34] 2 tn Heb “he went up and lay down over.”
[4:34] 3 tn Heb “his” (also in the next two clauses).
[4:34] 4 tn Or perhaps, “body”; Heb “flesh.”
[4:35] 5 tn Heb “he”; the referent (Elisha) has been specified in the translation for clarity.
[4:35] 6 tn Heb “and he returned and went into the house, once here and once there.”
[4:35] 7 tn Heb “and he went up.”
[10:10] 8 tn The traditional translation, “he fell into a trance,” is somewhat idiomatic; it is based on the textual variant ἐπέπεσεν (epepesen, “he fell”) found in the Byzantine text but almost certainly not original.
