They left the camp as it was and ran for their lives. 7:8 When the men with a skin disease reached the edge of the camp, they entered a tent and had a meal. 1  They also took some silver, gold, and clothes and went and hid it all. 2  Then they went back and entered another tent. They looted it 3  and went and hid what they had taken.

[7:8]  1 tn Heb “they ate and drank.”

[7:8]  2 tn Heb “and they hid [it].”

[7:8]  3 tn Heb “and they took from there.”

[7:15]  4 tn Heb “went after.”

[7:15]  5 tn Heb “and look, all the road was full of clothes and equipment that Syria had thrown away in their haste.”

[7:15]  6 tn Or “messengers.”

[2:20]  7 tn Or “in that day” (KJV).

[2:20]  8 tn Or “bow down to.”

[2:20]  9 tn Heb “to the shrews and to the bats.” On the meaning of חֲפַרְפָּרָה (khafarparah, “shrew”), see HALOT 341 s.v. חֲפַרְפָּרָה. The BHS text as it stands (לַחְפֹּר פֵּרוֹת, perot lakhpor), makes no sense. Based on Theodotion’s transliteration and a similar reading in the Qumran scroll 1QIsaa, most scholars suggest that the MT mistakenly divided a noun (a hapax legomenon) that should be translated “moles,” “shrews,” or “rodents.”

[31:7]  10 tn Or “in that day” (KJV).

[31:7]  11 tn Heb “reject” (so NIV); NRSV, TEV, CEV, NLT “throw away.”

[31:7]  12 tn Heb “the idols of their idols of silver and their idols of gold which your hands made for yourselves [in] sin.” חָטָא (khata’, “sin”) is understood as an adverbial accusative of manner. See J. N. Oswalt, Isaiah (NICOT), 1:573, n. 4.

[1:18]  13 tn Or “land” (cf. NEB). This same word also occurs at the end of the present verse.

[1:18]  14 tn Or “passion”; traditionally, “jealousy.”

[1:18]  15 tn Or “for.”

[1:18]  16 tn Heb “complete destruction, even terror, he will make.”

[1:18]  17 tn It is not certain where the Lord’s words end and the prophet’s words begin. It is possible that Zephaniah begins speaking in the middle of v. 17 or at the beginning of v. 18 (note the third person pronouns referring to the Lord).

[16:26]  18 tn Grk “a man,” but ἄνθρωπος (anqrwpo") is used in a generic sense here to refer to both men and women.
