2:4 The men of Judah came and there they anointed David as king over the people ¹  of Judah.

David was told, ²  “The people ³  of Jabesh Gilead are the ones who buried Saul.”

2 Samuel 5:5

5:5 In Hebron he reigned over Judah for seven years and six months, and in Jerusalem ⁴  he reigned for thirty-three years over all Israel and Judah.

David Is Anointed King Over Israel

5:1 All the tribes of Israel came to David at Hebron saying, “Look, we are your very flesh and blood! ⁵ 

2 Samuel 15:19

15:19 Then the king said to Ittai the Gittite, “Why should you come with us? Go back and stay with the new ⁶  king, for you are a foreigner and an exile from your own country. ⁷
